A little knowledge is a dangerous thing
One of the most essential things in this world is knowledge and acquiring it is very important for proper living. But most people do not try to acquire knowledge. They pretend to know everything after knowing a little bit. These pretensions cause a lot of trouble not only to the person but also to people surrounding them. This is very well illustrated in Mahabharata where Arjunโs son Abimanyu enters the Chakra vyuga without knowing how to come out of it and this led to his death.
The Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar says when some one learnsโฆ he should learn it thoroughly and then stand by it. So a little knowledge causes danger not only to self but also to others. Persons who has a little knowledge and considers himself a master of the subjects and an efficient in his profession is considered to be a dangerous person. So a little knowledge not only causes danger to self but also to others.
We should strive with our best efforts to deepen our knowledge in the area of our interest. With very little and shallow knowledge, our journey will not complete. We will be caught in the problems of mediocrity.
